I have been reading about the effects of sunlight for a while, and apparently, sunlight helps create vitamin D through your skin. Now, another interesting thing I came across is this:
A 2006 study using data on over 4 million cancer patients from 13 different countries showed a marked increase in some cancer risks in countries with less sun and another metastudy found correlations between vitamin D levels and cancer. The authors suggested that intake of an additional 1,000 international units (IU) (or 25 micrograms) of vitamin D daily reduced an individual's colon cancer risk by 50%, and breast and ovarian cancer risks by 30%.Source:
WikipediaIn other words, you could actually make the connection, that sunlight does NOT cause skin cancer at all, but could even prevent it! So, I went tried to dig deeper, and then, I found this website and video, which explains in a bit more detail why sunlight is actually good for you, and why tanning can also be good for you, if done properly. Basically it comes down to the corporations not wanting this information widely known because they profit from you having cancer and using their sunblock products etc. Take a look. It takes 23 minutes if your life:
